Event Description

The consultation on Removal of remaining funding supporting neighbourhood action is due to end on Sunday 17th December. This is part of the proposals for the Bristol City Council 2018/19 spending cuts, and will remove the remaining £257K of funds that used to be allocated by Neighbourhood Partnerships for 'Wellbeing'. During the lifetime of the BCR Neighbourhood Partnership, it was able to distribute small grants to community groups to support many activities, as shown in the full list of BCR grants awarded. The awards were spread across a range of local priorities, and we received several grants for St Andrews Park.

The consultation document gives an overview by BCC of their proposal which is: As part of £52m of savings identified for the year 2018/19, BCC has proposed that this grant funding be stopped under the category identified as reducing or stopping non-priority services.

There is just one question in the survey; it’s on page 3 of the document, asking if you agree with the proposal to withdraw the money already allocated for Neighbourhood grants. There is a box to say why you think we should not lose this money. If you love the park and the facilities which we have, and want this money to be available for future grants, please say so in the survey. It is probably the last time there will be money for Neighbourhood projects in the foreseeable future.

You may be wondering why there are several events that are BCC consultations. The council is cutting their budget allocations in all areas and Parks and Green Spaces will lose most of their financial support. The council is putting their proposals out for consulation; if we don't respond then we get whatever they decide. It is up to us to make our views known, so we are asking you to respond and let BCC have your views.
