COMMUNITIES SET TO BENEFIT FROM CASH FROM CRIMINALS!

A new scheme has been launched in England and Wales which gives local people a say in how £4million of recovered criminal assets should be spent in their communities.
Community Cashback is a national initiative that is giving the public the chance to decide how the ill-gotten gains of criminals can be used to benefit their communities in the fight against crime. Up to £95,000 will be made available in Avon and Somerset to fund community projects that are linked in some way to crime or anti-social behaviour. Members of the local community are invited to propose projects for funding, and to give their comments on projects that have been nominated.
Applications can made through the dedicated website http://cashback.cjsonline.gov.uk. Here you can find more information about the scheme and the type of projects that will be considered, nominate projects for consideration, and comment on the projects that have been proposed. Applications should be made before 29 July 2009.

Avon and Somerset Criminal Justice Board will be coordinating the scheme in this area. If you have any queries please contact us at ascjboffice@avonandsomerset.police.uk.
"The message behind Community Cashback and Community Payback is simple - the public must have a stronger voice in the criminal justice system - after all, it operates on their behalf and must have their backing." - Louise Casey, Crime and Justice Advisor
