Good news. But it would be good to get some feedback from the Council as to the comments of the judges. Did they have any criticisms to make, suggestions for improvements? Last year the judges felt there was too much in the way of green grass areas and not enough floral displays. This year's experimental spiral designs for showcasing colourful annual flowers must have indicated to them that there had been a positive response to their previous criticism, though the disappointing way these features developed, through neglect, must have surely been commented on.
The somewhat messed up area (again because of neglect) on the slope below the bowling green which originally was planted with interesting, colourful perennials that were in part chosen as attractive sources of nectar and pollen for insects, must also surely have been mentioned by the judges as being in need of some serious attention.
