Thanks Simon. The question of function of the swollen femurs was raised at a course I attended last weekend with Roger Morris and Stuart Ball - they couldn't put forward any theories either!

Nice shot, Des. Can't find anything in the literature which suggests any possible function of those swollen femurs, but, as you say, they certainly make it an easy species to identify
