Toad tadpoles still at an early stage of metamorphosis, October 5th '16.

For some unknown reason, many of the toad tadpoles in the pond are retarded in their development this year and are not going to change into toadlets and emerge onto land. They will be able to survive the winter by hibernating in the pond and then resume their growth and metamorphosis next spring.
