"Well done the pond maintenance team. A great effort. The goldfish is probably one which escaped the heron's efforts last year; I have seen a couple in the pond."

"What we rely is that pond visitors appreciate that its maintenance is all voluntary; and that they might be more careful and clean up after their visit -perhaps they have yet to notice there is a waste bin near the pond, by the park gate into Melita…"

"The pond does seem to increasingly attract adolescents - there are always some young people sat there when I visit - most are no doubt OK but I can't help thinking the trend will lead to more rubbish being deposited. Short of piping…"

A forest of Wild Teasel in the meadow area today

"This is a lovely site! I added some seed cases from the Pink Campions and Ox eye daisies growing around the pond bank. Hopefully these will germinate and flower next summer."

A horrible mess around the pond today

What can be done... I picked up approx 8 plastic bottles, 2 glass bottles, 4 cans, plastic wrappers, smoking paraphenalia etc etc from around the pond and in the wildflower area. Some more bottles in the pond which we will have to get out next week…

Welcome to the website, Alison. You are right, the new floral beds have been brilliant and the tea shop is too. There is more info on Trees on a separate tab at the top of the page. We have 10 new trees which are doing well.
