Play area redevelopment at on this website

August 7, 2016 at 6pm to August 31, 2016 at 7pm
Possible further development of the play area in St Andrews ParkFriends of St Andrews Park, in consultation with Bristol City Council, is considering the longer term needs of the play area in the park, including the playground and paddling pool. The play area is very popular but some of the equipment is ageing, some groups of children may be less well catered for, and there are some issues with drainage and layout on the site. FoSAP is therefore in the process of applying for a Wellbeing grant…See More

Dog fouling

Walking through our park this morning, I saw a large dog - black curly hair - defecating on the grass.  I looked around, but there was no-one - other than me - within 30 yards. So I watched the dog as it ran off towards two women, deep in conversation, backs to the dog.I asked them if it was their dog, and on hearing that it was, told them what it had done.  One of them said 'Oh, he's watching it' indicating two men, also deep in conversation, following 50 yards behind. So I told the men what the…See More

Dogs again

Over the years I've told many people that dogs aren't allowed in the dog-free part of the park.  Reactions have ranged from being ignored, through being abused, to being threatened.  I had one 10-year-old boy follow me around shouting 'paedophile'.These two, this morning, were different.  Polite, contrite, and apologetic.  They…See More

Bill,
I have followed the Forum correspondence with growing concern. I’m sorry that you feel so upset in this matter and I regret that things have reached this stage. Georgia is no doubt appreciative of your advice and, judging by her last posting, recognised that there was little that could be done at this stage. It’s a shame that things could not have been left there. For sadly, once the discussion became personal, the Forum was no longer the appropriate place for it. Nothing will be gained either in Georgia’s interest or that of the Friends by further argument. If Des does not want to continue the correspondence, I’m afraid that is his prerogative.
It is not for me to take sides in this issue, so could I ask you please to consider the matter closed with respect to the Forum, even though I do understand that you still feel aggrieved.

Hi Bill
My name is Emma Downing and I am one of the playground convenors for FoSap along with Anna King.
We are onto the council re the gate. THe plan is to make it swing 'up hill' only so that it is a little more difficult for the children to escape into the wider park area/cafe area. It was not part of the original contract, I understand, to sort this out as the money we received was for the improvement and installation of play equipment rather that enhancement ofthe boundary fence/gating.

Fear not though we have it on the radar. Please do let Anna or I know if there is anything else we can help you with re the play area.

Kind regards

Emma
