Hi Alan, Thanks for this suggestion. We have been told that Bristol Council are considering various BBQ options in several City Parks and I will ask them to add this one to their list. In the meantime, hopefully the grass will grow back, albeit sl…

I appreciate that with the onset of winter, barbecues are a long way off peoples minds at the moment and Halloween is foremost in our thoughts. I would like to put forward this idea. Instead of one or more permanent barbecues which may invite vandal…

Yes, I did, making the total number of those attending precisely 3!! Rather embarrassing. No, nothing was proposed and nothing decided. It was really an exercise in sounding out what ideas the 'local community' had as possibilities for medium to lon…

It appears that the way they do things in Australia & here are two quite different things. Personally, I would love it if it was possible to have a "fixed" Barbecue in St Andrews Park but the chances of Vandalism would be extremely high & I'm not…

Simon Randolph

I would like to thank Simon Randolph for his magnificent photographs in the Photos section.

His attention to detail is marvellous & his knowledge of the Flora & Fauna but more than that some of his

general views of the Park are breathtaking having been taken at all times of the Year.

Thanks,

Doug Reid

Mission Accomplished!!

I have now completed the painting of the legs in Black & the varnishing, 2 coats of Mahogany Dacrylate Varnish

to all 33 benches in the Park!! The Council provided all the materials, Paint, Varnish, surgical gloves, brushes &

sandpaper. Sarah Mc Murchie is going to do the last one with her Grandchildren this weekend as she wanted to

"adopt a Bench". It's been a hard slog but it was done with "Friends of St Andrews Park" in mind & probably

would not have been attempted had Judith… Continue

I agree Martin. It's probably quite an expensive installation having 20 pianos
throughout Bristol but let's just see how it goes. Rain is obviously going to be
a problem but if there are some people who can really play the piano it should
be a worthwhile experiment.

Having looked at the website I am doing a U-turn and fully support the piano in the park idea! Its good to have an open mind! Anyone in any doubts about its merits should have a look at : http://www.streetpianos.co.uk. My only reservation is that there should be a hotline number for any problems and piano playing should be limited to daylight hours. The other problem is the rain, but they say their will be a piano raincoat provided.
