Do you live in Bristol
How often do you use St Andrews Park
Many times a week
What is it about St Andrews Park you like
It is local to me it is a beautiful green space and I have enjoyed it for more than four decades having lived in Sefton Park rd since I was born.
My local park means a lot to me and I will remember it fondly when I move
I am concerned that lots of changes I see in Bristol involve building on OUR cities green spaces.
I want to ensure that our park dosen't dissapear or remove its beautiful trees and become a too formal static although beautiful park with something missing EG: Room for ALL the Types of trees it already has along with naturally locally occurring ones and its resident wild life. A small wooded area would do something to ameleorate the cumulative negative environmental effect of so many gardens in this area being paved over for parking in recent years.
I would NOT want to see an overly formal council dictated planting scheme unless there is a VERY good reason for it. I would like theVictorian character of the built parts of the park to remain (but this dosent apply to the planting scheme)and any facilities to be thoroughly environmentally friendly eg solar power to heat the water in the mens and ladies facilities. And buildings to be as eniromentally friendly as possible. Parks and gardens play a MAJOR ROLE in the healthy sustainabilty of the U.K ecosystem and this MUST be born in mind when planning paths buildings replanting etc. St Andrews park is beautiful and treasured.

Hello folks,

Last week I had an invite from Chris Hammond to join him, plus Fay of the Tea Garden and our new AEO, Mark Owen, by the main gate on Effingham road to discuss remedial work on the new fencing.  Chris told us that there had been a lack of communication that had lead to some of the problems that have arisen.  To overcome these, he is recommending the following actions:1.      The new gates will be replaced with chicanes which will serve the…

Hi Regina,

Welcome to the wildlife group from Simon Randolph and Jo Corke, the current  co-conveners.

To join us on-line use the Groups tab on this website and choose Wildlife group.

Below our introductory piece about the group is the  Join Wildlife Group option

We also have a separate email list of wildlife group members which is useful if we are trying to arrange a working party, or want someone to check something out in the park.  If you would like to be on this list, email us at  which  is our official email and means you don’t have to post your private email address on an open website.

We hope you can come to the AGM on 17th April where can meet  other FoSAP members . The details of the AGM will appear on the website in shortly.

Hi Regina, and welcome to the website.

We hope to arrange a meeting with the council aboriculturist in April to to talk about arboricultural issues, plans and general thoughts about trees in the park.

We hope that you, and many others who see the trees are an important park asset, will be able to come.

As soon as we have arranged the time and venue I will post the information on this website. Hope to see you there,

Jo Membership sec.
