Bird Walk 20th March 2016

An impressive 18 people (including 5 enthusiastic youngsters) turned up for this month's Birdwalk, led by Lois  (Des being away on ornithological adventures elsewhere). The weather was overcast and quite cold but we recorded 21 different bird species including a pair of Mistle Thrush and a flock of 20 Redwing. The full list was as follows:

Blackbird: a few seen

Blue Tit: seen and heard

Carrion Crow: 2 or 3

Chaffinch: a female seen

Coal Tit: 1…

Bird Walk: 17th May

Four people (Lois, Nancy, Jan and Jon) were present for this month's bird walk, led by Lois in the absence of Des. There were some nice sunny spells during the hour, but with a chilly wind blowing. The list of birds seen and heard was as follows:

Robin - one or two heard

Wren - several heard

Blackbird - many  (around 10) seen hopping around the park

Mistle Thrush - good views of two individuals in different sections of the park

Dunnock - at least one heard…

Bird Walk: 15th February

Once again, an enjoyable walk led this time by Lois, who broke with tradition and took us on an exciting anticlockwise route around the park, with a good selection of birds seen and heard along the way. The full list is as follows:

Blue Tit: 2 or 3 seen

Great Tit: 2 or 3 seen

Long-tailed Tit: 3 seen

Coal Tit: 1 seen

Robin: at least 2 seen

Starling: at least 20 seen

Redwing: at least 10 seen in the trees and on the ground
