We want to plant a new generation of trees across Bristol. This will bring immediate benefits to people who live and work in Bristol and leave a legacy for future generations.
TreeBristol aims to increase tree canopy cover to 30% by planting in Bristol’s parks, open spaces, grass verges and streets. We replace lost street trees and also plant in new sites across Bristol in greatest need of more trees. The TreeBristol team carries out responsible tree planting with the right tree in the right place.
TreeBristol organise events and publish newsletters on their website. Check them out.

If you like questionnaires, the Council are asking everyone what their views are on how to make Bristol a healthier place, amongst other things plant more trees! So to look at and comment on a Draft Health and Wellbeing Strategy: http://www.bristol.gov.uk/page/health-and-adult-care/health-and-wel...
Kind regards – Clive Stevens, Chair Bristol TreeForum
thanks to Fi Hance for these two pdf files.
TreeBristol planted 1073 trees in Bristol during 2011-2012; you can read about it in the TreeBristol annual report.
The recent Bulletin 08 May2012 gives more details of some of these tree plantings and details of the first round of Tree Plans for the NP wards. The proposals will be presented at the NP meeting on 18th June - see Events for more details.
The Tree Plan involves just the trees. All these other features are covered by the
Horticultural Improvement plan which was included in the Management Plan
and is being actioned. For example the new shade bed near the toilets
which was planted at the start of this season.
Fi Hance, Liberal Democrat Councillor for Redland, has been in regular contact with Russell Horsey, BCC arboriculturalist, over the recent Park Tree survey and associated works, including the felling of three cherries.
Two suggestions for one of these trees, in this photo, are being discussed.
1. A protective fence around the Cherry Tree forming an exclusion zone.
2. A replacement tree. You can read her email to FoSAP here
We have asked for a meeting in the Park with BCC Parks Manager, Chris Hammond to discuss the options. Watch this space.
(This information is also posted in our Trees tab and in the Tree Survey page of the wildlife group.
