Event Description

Possible further development of the play area in St Andrews Park

Friends of St Andrews Park, in consultation with Bristol City Council, is considering the longer term needs of the play area in the park, including the playground and paddling pool. The play area is very popular but some of the equipment is ageing, some groups of children may be less well catered for, and there are some issues with drainage and layout on the site. FoSAP is therefore in the process of applying for a Wellbeing grant from the Ashley, Easton and Lawrence Hill Neighbourhood Partnership for a survey and outline design from a landscape architect for possible redesign and redevelopment of the play area. If the application, to be submitted by 24th August, is successful, this would be just the first stage and a basis for local consultation in what might be a much longer term project.

The views of park users and local people will be a crucial element of this project. FoSAP looks forward to hearing any questions, suggestions or proposals that you would like to put forward at this early stage about the play area.

I would be happy to see the play area expanded.  On a busy day it can be quite crowded, while the rest of the park is very much less used.

It appears that many people prefer the closed area - whether this is for child security (as long as the gates are closed) or to avoid dog mess, or a combination, or for other reasons.
